Pipe and Cable is an ideal fencing choice for horse owners. The pipe and cable fence is very similar to a sucker rod fence as it consists of pipe posts and a welded top rail. Instead of solid rails like the sucker rod fence, the rails are made of extremely strong high tensile aircraft cable ranging in size from 1/4”- 5/8” thick. This style of fence is truly beautiful and offers the attractive look and durability of sucker rod fence, while adding an element of safety that many horse owners prefer. The aircraft cable strands are smooth and help to avoid accidents with horses, and the welded top rail is tough enough to withstand horses leaning against the fence.
Materials are made and sourced in the United States. Posts for the Pipe and Cable Fence are set a minimum of three feet underground with 80 pounds of mixed concrete per post. The Pipe and Cable Fence typically contains 4-7 horizontal rails, spaced 6-12 inches apart. The size of the aircraft cable used ranges in size from 1/4”-5/8” thick and is secured using turnbuckles and large springs to hold the tension. The Pipe and Cable Fence is easy to maintain, if the cable becomes loose over time, it can be easily tensioned using the turnbuckles installed on the fence.
